    Trish’s Tips

How do I know when the cookies are done?

The cookies are done when they begin to turn golden brown around the edges and the centers are set. This typically takes about 12 minutes.

Can I use store bought eggnog in this recipe?

Sure can! Make sure you buy the full fat version and not light eggnog. I made these with my homemade eggnog and store bought and both ways were delicious.

Can I make these cookies in advance?

Yes, the cookie dough can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator, tightly covered, for up to 3 days.

What other frosting flavors could I make?

Cream cheese frosting or vanilla frosting would be delicious. These cookies are wonderful on their own as well so the frosting can be omitted if you prefer.

How can I decorate these cookies?

A dusting of grated nutmeg, ground cinnamon or an anise star are all beautiful ways to finish these cookies and make them worthy of holiday gatherings.
